Cognizant to use Google Gemini for software development, internal operations

Cognizant and GoogleCloud have announced that the companies have expanded their partnership focused on leveraging AI to improve software development. Cognizant will train its employees on Google Geminian AI tools for developers. Additionally, Cognizant will integrate Gemini into its internal platforms.
Using Gemini, Cognizant developers can write, test, and deploy code faster with AI assistance. This collaboration aims to improve the efficiency and reliability of building and managing client applications, the company said.
Cognizant and Google Cloud plan to use Gemini to help businesses across industries build applications, test code, and fix issues with AI.
“Software development is one of the jobs likely to benefit the most from the way generative AI is redefining the anatomy of work,” said Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant.
“Cognizant has committed to investing $1 billion in generative AI over three years because we believe it is a powerful tool to amplify human potential, and our partnership with Google Cloud is central to this commitment, and to realizing this vision,” he added.

Over the next year, Cognizant will train over 70,000 employees on Google Cloud’s AI offerings, aligning with their Synapse initiative to upskill one million people globally by 2026. Additionally, Cognizant will integrate Gemini into its automated platforms, starting with the Cognizant Flowsource platform for developers.
“Generative AI has the potential to significantly improve every stage of the software delivery lifecycle, helping developers quickly generate code, troubleshoot issues, and automate processes,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud.
“By training and enabling its workforce on Gemini for Google Cloud, Cognizant can accelerate the speed and quality of software development projects for joint customers,” he added.
Google Cloud will support Cognizant in the development of AI-led software engineering best practices, and by helping the Cognizant Google Cloud AI University launch advanced courses on AI use cases.
